Charlotte Flair Reveals the reason behind her year-long absence from WWE
After a nearly eight-month absence, Flair returned to the company on the December 30, 2022, episode of SmackDown. She hadn’t wrestled since May 8, 2022, when she was defeated in an I Quit match by Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania Backlash.
Charlotte Flair’s Issues That Kept Her Away from WWE
Flair revealed in an interview with the New York Post that several dental surgeries caused her to be absent from the company for an extended period of time. She had intended to take time off to get married, but she discovered that she needed to address some dental issues that had been bothering her since childhood.
‘So after her honeymoon, Flair underwent multiple dental procedures after which she could not risk being hit in the face for weeks at a time. Flair said she probably could have been back for SummerSlam in late July, but stayed out longer knowing she still had one more procedure to get through.’
“I had to,” Flair said. “I didn’t have a choice but to take care of these issues.”
Flair also discussed her present position as a babyface and the response she had upon her comeback.
“Seeing the reaction still, as it continues. I’m just like, ‘go with it,” she said. “Don’t force anything. This is the first time that I genuinely feel right in the good-guy role. I’m not saying how long that will last, but it feels right now.”
