How to Use a Boat in Minecraft?

You can follow these three easy steps to use a boat in Minecraft.

1. How to get the Boat into the water?

First of all, You need to have a boat in Minecraft to cross the water or river. To acquire a boat in Minecraft, you can use the boat-making recipe.

Select the Boat in the Hotbar and place your cursor (the ‘+’ sign) in the water where you want to board the boat. To place your boat, you will need at least four blocks. While selecting blocks you can see them getting highlighted.

Different Minecraft versions for different platforms have unique game controls, which are shown below:

On a computer or a Mac, right-click the block in Java Edition.
In the Pocket Edition (PE), you simply tap the block.
On your Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller, press the LT button.
For the PS3 and PS4, press the L2 button on the controller.
On the Wii U gamepad, press the ZL button.
Press the ZL button on the Nintendo Switch controller.
In Windows 10 Edition, right-click the block.
Click the right mouse button on the block for the Education Edition.

2. How to Get into the Boat?

You must mount your boat once you’ve placed it in the water in order to board it.

Depending on the Minecraft version, there are several game controls for entering the boat:

On a computer or a Mac, right-click the boat in Java Edition.
Tap the boat, followed by the Board button, to start the Pocket Edition (PE).
On the PS3 and PS4, press the L2 button on the PS controller to board the boat.

In Windows 10 Edition, right-click the boat.
On the Wii U gamepad, press the ZL button.
Press the ZL button on the Nintendo Switch controller.
For the Education Edition, simply right-click on the boat.

With the same controls you used to move in the game when walking, you can now move around in the boat.
