Vince McMahon has reached an agreement with former WWE referee Rita Chatterton to settle a rape allegation raised against him.

In a letter sent in November, Chatterton demanded $11.75 million from McMahon. According to the Wall Street Journal, the allegations were resolved for a lesser amount but for an undisclosed sum worth “multimillion dollars.”

According to McMahon’s longtime lawyer, Jerry McDevitt, “Mr. McMahon denies and always has denied raping Ms. Chatterton. And he settled the case solely to avoid the cost of litigation.”

The Journal claims that McMahon has settled with several former female WWE employees over allegations of infidelity and/or misconduct, including one in which he paid out $7.5 million to a former wrestler who claimed he had forced her into oral sex with him in the past.

Chatterton first made her statements in television interviews in 1992, accusing McMahon of sexually assaulting her in the back of his limo. She eventually abandoned the lawsuit after McMahon sued her in 1993, alleging that a wrestler with an “axe to grind” had induced her to accuse him of sexual harassment. He said at the time that he withdrew the lawsuit to focus on clearing his name of steroid-related charges, which led to his 1994 acquittal.
