After India’s premature exit from the tournament of ICC T20 World Cup 2021 Virat and company has left everyone in utter disappointment.
Virat had decided to quit India’s captaincy after the short format big tournament , where Virat accompanied with Head Coach Ravi Shastri played their last World Cup of 2021, fans and even former cricketers were left in shock.
The huge crowd of India was cheering for their team in UAE but all in vain. Virat kohli after quitting the IPL Franchise RCB’s captaincy also had made his mind and announced it aloud the same decision for the T20I matches.
Virat Kohli has not left any legacy behind but surely did do some good for the Indian cricket by making the scale up high for the Test Series also unbeatable! Men in blue’s under performance has given the other teams like Pakistan, New Zealand and Australia a chance to make a big difference in the short format big tournament.
Shastri unduly has taken Indian Cricket upto certain heights, especially in the red-ball format.
After the session of quitting and appointing, BCCI has finally appointed their Head Coach- Rahul Dravid, Captain- Rohit Sharma, and Vice-Captain- KL Rahul.
Many former cricketers along with BCCI President Sourav Ganguly have shown their full belief in Rahul Dravid and claimed to bring a new positive change to the team. Sourav Ganguly shared exactly why he approached Dravid for such responsibility.
Ganguly talking in the 40 Sharjah Book Fair explained the process of appointing Dravid:
“I got a call from him saying his father was being too strict with him and that he needed to be taken away. That’s when I called Rahul (Dravid) and told him that it was time for him to join the national team.”
And this was possible due to the former cricketers’ friendship on both the sides of the field. He further added:
“We grew up together, started around the same time, and spent most of the time playing together. So it was easy for some of us to make him feel welcome and wanted.”
Several other reasons can be given in favour of Dravid being the right choice for India’s Future
Rahul has been the coach of India A and Under-19 team, and has served as the Director of National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. Proving himself successful in those areas he uplifted the Under-19 Team to the World Cup twice.
Even after his retirement Dravid’s is still connected to the sport, he understands it so well that he was the absolute choice for the appointers since the limited over series has been played by India against Sri Lanka where he was a coach but performed better than the head coach- Shastri.
Another factor that falls for Dravid is he has played with current senior players like Virat and Rohit Sharma along with them the former has achieved many International victories that brought him huge respect and admiration, he has a good understanding of modern game and well with numbers and strategies too.
VVS Laxman has also played with Dravid and on being the head coach for India the former has congratulated and showed his full belief in the latter. VVS Laxman wrote:
“Absolutely the right man for the job! Rahul Dravid has been a great servant of Indian cricket. As he takes guard for a fresh innings as the head coach, I am sure he will take the team onward and upward. Best wishes to my partner in an enjoyable stand!!”
With this the conclusion is made for whether Dravid will be a successful coach or not, the stats have shown how far he can take Indian Cricket.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma hitting careless shots has always made Indian fans proud. He has never left any means to give Indians the happiness they deserve through his performance. Always remember when his day the RO-HITman becomes destructive for the rivals. Overall the Indian Cricket is in safe hands. Wish to see more betterment and positivity in the Indian cricket Squad.
The duo of coach-captain will soon be seen in action in the three-match series with the Kiwis in the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on November 17th, Wednesday.
