Australian veteran David Warner’s form continues to waggle as he was dismissed for a duck in a warm-up match against New Zealand. This is not the first time he got out for a duck. He had similar conditions in IPL as well where he was dropped for the second time by Sun Risers Hyderabad as he underperformed there.

In the second leg of the IPL, he had 0 and 2 scores to his name in the first two matches he played in. Sunrise was left with no option but to drop him. He did not return to play for the remainder of IPL. From thereon, He moved on to prepare for the ICC T2o world cup.

On Monday night, he was featured in the first warm-up match against New Zealand. He played an edge on the first delivery of the Tim Southee to slip where Martin Gupta had his sharp eyes on the ball, he jumped on it and took a spectacular one-handed catch. Warner returned disappointed.

The form of Warner is indeed a cause of concern for Australian Cricket.  They are unsure of when Warner will return to his former glory days. However, Maxwell had the opinion otherwise when it came to the performance of David warner.

He exuded full confidence in David warner. He warned people against writing off David warner. Maxwell believed that he would come back stronger than ever before when the tournament begins on Saturday.

“If you ever doubt Davey, it’s an absolute no-no,” Maxwell said. “You know he’s going to turn it around. He’s a superstar of all three formats. He’s made so many runs. He’s going to go down as one of the greats of the game. Unfortunately, he got Martin Guptill’s yesterday with an absolute hanger. Gup seems to do that a lot against us.

“Those sorts of things happen when you’re searching for it. But you know when he gets out there come game time, come the 23rd [of October], regardless of what happens in the next practice game, you know he’s going to hit the ground running. He’s going to be a big player for us.”

However, Maxwell’s performance is on cloud nine as he played an important role in RCB. He was not part of the Warm-up victory match of Australia because of his stint with the RCB till the last moment. Australian Cricket believes that Maxwell will be prominent at performing at his best considering his recent performance. Australians have high hopes for him. However, Maxwell believes on the contrary. He thinks that another Australian all-rounder will have a huge impact in the T20 world cup.

“We all gather around his net and just watch him hit the ball. It’s been pretty extraordinary to watch him go about his business at the moment. I’d be really surprised if he didn’t have a really good tournament. He’s got his bowling as well. His presence around the group regardless of what he’s doing is second to none. He’s the guy everyone wants in their team, he’s flying at the moment, so I’m expecting him to have a good tournament.”

Marsh came at no. 3 against New Zealand. He is likely to play at only no.3 for the tournament. Maxwell will come at the same time he comes to RCB just after the Power Play ends. However, Steven Smith came at no. 4 in the warm-up match against New Zealand. However, his position will be decided depending upon how Australia manages its team line-up.
