Venkatesh Iyer says his ‘DREAM’ has come true

Venkatesh Iyer expresses his happiness to TOI, where he claims that it was unexpected for him and Awash Khan broke this news to him in the hotel room in Kerala. Venkatesh Iyer was taken aback for once then hugged the other expectant of Indian squad Avesh Khan.

Iyer called it a ‘dream’ that has come true for him. The 26-year old mentioned:

“It is a dream of every cricketer to wear an India jersey someday and the day has come. I am so happy. The words are not enough to describe the feeling. Avesh broke this big news to me.”

He also mentioned how hard he has worked for his team and explained how he felt every time he was in the middle of the field. He added: 

“I am so happy. I worked really hard for it. Honestly, I didn’t expect this. Every time when I go in the middle, I just want to perform and put up as many runs as possible for my team. I am really thankful to the selectors, captain, and all my seniors and coaches for this.”

The KKR all-rounder further added by claiming to become an effective all-rounder for the team India ahead of the T20I NZ and also South Africa tour. He further added:

“I am an allrounder. I will look forward to fitting in whatever role my team (India) would want from me. I am not thinking about the opposition at the moment. I am just looking forward to performing for my team,” 

Venkatesh even showed his excitement for playing under Rohit Sharma. The young all-rounder said:

“I am really excited to play under Rohit Bhai. I am really looking forward to it. He is such a great player. The team looks really strong. I am sure we will perform well. It will be a huge learning experience as well, and it will be exciting to play under Rohit Bhai.”

He is the youngest all-rounder and the fastest and the highest run-scorer of 155* runs at an average RR of 51.66 in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He chose not to be left behind than any other bowler and took 5 wickets against Bihar.
