Three players in KKR can be on the list of the Captains in IPL Auction 2022
By Bullscore13 Nov, 2021
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) appreciated a significant exciting ride campaign during IPL 2021. Having finished the India leg with only two dominates from seven matches, a spot in the playoffs appeared to be a far-off dream. Be that as it may, they made something happen drastically in the UAE leg to complete in the fourth situation with 14 points and henceforth fit the bill for the playoffs.
KKR proceeded to try and meet all requirements for the last of the period prior to missing the mark by 27 runs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). All things considered, various youthful Indian abilities drove the way for KKR all through their campaign. Rahul Tripathi, Venkatesh Iyer, Shubman Gill, Shivam Mavi, and Varun Chakravarthy were among the champion entertainers for the Knight Riders in the 2021 season.
So there is a likelihood that KKR could be watching out for a skipper who comes to the mega auction that would go before IPL 2022. Shubman Gill has been promoted as conceivable maintenance and surprisingly the following commander of KKR. Notwithstanding, there are various different choices that the franchise should seriously mull over.
Here, we take a look at three such players KKR could look to lead their side in IPL 2022:
1. Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer is one of the important parts of India’s limited-overs batting lineup over the last few years. It was in 2018 when Iyer took the mantle of captaincy at the Delhi capitals (then Delhi Daredevils) 2018. This came after an out-of-form Gautam Gambhir resigned from the post.
Since then, Iyer has been a great performer as under his leadership, he has been able to take the Capital in the playoff in the final appearances. However, he was forced to sit out in the first leg of the IPL 2021, with Rishabh pant taking over the captaincy duties.
With the IPL suspended after the first half, Shreyas Iyer was fit to play for the second half in the UAE. However, the Capitals chose to go with Pant as captain for the second half as well. They made it to the playoffs for the third year on the trot.
There have been rumors that Shreyas Iyer is looking to move on to another franchise and embrace a new challenge. Should he put his name in the player auction list, KKR must certainly set their eyes upon securing him as their leader.
2. David Warner
When it comes to consistency, David Warner is one of the most consistent batters over the years in the IPL. scoring 500+ runs was something formality for him at the Sun riser Hyderabad.
The 2021 season has not been that great for Warmer, He was eliminated from his post as a captain of SRH, while also being dropped from the playing XI.
There are talks taking around of Warner again the donning the jersey of the new team IPL 2022. Given his performances, He is bound to be highly sought after.
There are some possibilities where one of the two new franchises such as Lucknow and Ahmedabad may go with Warner prior to the mega auction.
KKR could well be of those teams that could be the frontrunner to claim the services of this Australian with one eye on making him the captain of the side.
Warner as a captain may come with the risk of occupying an overseas player. However, his consistency with the bat has been a hallmark of his game across the years. With Warner enjoying a solid fanbase in India. He could boost the brand image of KKR even further should they recruit him as their skipper.
3. Mayank Agarwal
Mayank Agarwal has been one of the batters in the IPL over the last couple of seasons. With 424 and 441 runs in 2020 and 2021, Agarwal has been a great player at the top of the order for the Punjab Kings (PBKS). He has shown great strike rates and his attacking strokeplay has been unique.
Agarwal become the captain of PBKS earlier this season when the regular skipper KL Rahul was afflicted with appendicitis. While he lost the game, he led the way with an unbeaten 99 against the Delhi Capitals. He showed maturity and character without letting the extra responsibility get to his head.
He is also someone who has climbed the ladder in India’s test only based on his performance in domestic cricket. He seems to possess the character needed to be the captain of the team.
When Agarwal is on the field, he is seen to be confident, giving the vibes of the captain, and he was also seen to be motivating his players to perform better that is indicative of his captaincy skills.
Should he sit in the auctions, KKR will be looking to get him as a captain of the team. He is well-established and is at the peak of his career. There can be a better time for him to take the responsibility of captaincy.
