Discussions of a WWE sale have intensified as a result of Vince McMahon’s appointment as the organization’s executive chairman of the board of directors. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is the most recent figure to provide his opinion on it. He made a special guest appearance on CNBC to talk about his ZOA Energy drink.

In his interview with CNBC, Johnson discussed his time at WWE and was questioned about the possibility of the Stamford-based business being sold. He finds it to be quite attractive, is delighted, and wishes them the best.

“Well, I can tell you this, I can tell you it’s an exciting brand. It’s a brand that I’ve been fortunate enough to have tremendous success in over the decades,” he said.

He further added, “We’ve seen tremendous success over the years. I think it’s a very attractive company. I’m excited, and I wish Vince and that company all the best.”

Johnson continued by concurring with the idea that it’s challenging to picture McMahon losing his prominent and influential position if the company is sold.

The co-host of the show said he could not see a sale occurring until McMahon remains in charge of the business.

That is a valid concern, thinks Johnson, who also suspects that McMahon would be seeking a buyer who shares his passion for wrestling.

“I would (agree with the point that a WWE sale might not happen unless the buyer allows Vince McMahon to still be in charge) and that’s a great point. I think the world of professional wrestling and the world of WWE, it’s so unique. The fan base is very large and very passionate and there’s nothing like the WWE so I think with the new owners if there are new owners, and acquirers that are gonna come in, I think they have to share that same passion for the company and for the world of pro wrestling which isn’t always easy to do. As you guys know, with a company like this, it’s been so incredibly successful over the years, a sale and acquisition could be very complicated but there’s that unique added anchor I believe to this that Vince feels where you gotta find the right buyer who still has that passion and love for this very unique world.”
