Team Jumbo-Visma Wins All Three Grand Tours With Sepp Kuss Victory Over Vuelta a España
Us Cyclist Sepp Kuss made history with his Vuelta a España victory as his team Jumbo-Visma won all three Grand Tours.
Colorado native Sepp Kuss’s victory in the Spanish Grand Tours Vuelta a España becomes the first American cyclist to achieve this feat in over a decade. Last time, Chris Horner won the Vuelta a España in 2013.
Not only, Kuss but his team Jumbo-Visma’s other teammates won the other two Grand Tours. First, Primož Roglič won the 2023 Giro d’Italia and then Jonas Vingegaard won the 2023 Tour de France. This trio achieved a supreme honor and made history of the first cyclist team with all three Grand Slams in a single season.
Via ESPN reports, Kuss expressed his gratitude after winning the race and said,
“It’s incredible. I think today was the stage that I suffered the most of the whole race, now I’m just glad it’s over. It’s life-changing for sure. I think I’ll look back on this experience with a lot of fun memories. It’s still sinking in, I think it’s gonna take quite some time. Now, a big celebration. Family, friends are here, and that’s gonna be really special.”
In the race, Kuss held a 17-second lead over his teammate, Jonas Vingegaard. This time Sepp’s teammates helped him to win the race as they all three crossed the finish line with huge smiles on their faces.
Kuss also known as “Durango Kid” won three races at the Collegiate Mountain Bike Nationals, two in 2014 and one in 2015. University of Colorado student joined the Dutch professional bicycle racing team Jumbo-Visma in 2017.
This team becomes the first cycling team to sweep the Grand Tours with no other team anywhere close to their achievements.
