Former Indian cricketer-all-rounder Sanjay Bangar lauded India’s performance in the T20I. The squad has been led by the new duo of head coach and skipper- Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma.

The 11-men squad in blue has begun their practice for the next world cup 2022 by winning and breaking the losing streak against NZ. Bangar applauded the skills of Harshal Patel as a debutant who managed and played incredibly well with the wet ball. Bangar said:

“How Harshal Patel took his chance in his debut match was really impressive because he’s someone who’s been known to rely a lot on his slow ball variations and in a match wherein there was a lot of dew. Despite that, he overcame that challenge and bowled really well with a wet ball and still used his variations, with cutters and slow bouncers. I felt that was a big plus for the Indian team as well.”

The spinning duo of Ashwin and Axar Patel cast their magical spell against both- the Kiwis and the Dew! Both performing extremely well took India to the winning path. Sanjay added:

“So, Ashwin and Axar Patel both bowling well in tandem have really worked well for the Indian team in the middle overs and when they were chasing, I felt that the form that both the openers are turning out on a consistent basis has been really clinical for the Indian team performances in the series so far.”

Both the spinner are expected to stay back for the Test series against NZ.

Bangar also felt delighted after Bhuvneshwar’s comeback performance in the now-concluded T20I. Kumar was dropped out after his inconsistent performance in the first match of T20 WC. Sanjay concluded:

“Can’t take anything away from somebody like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who’s got his swing back because whenever he’s played and he’s bowled with that new ball, he’s got his swing back.”

Bhuvneshwar Kumar registered 3 wickets to his name in 10 overs. He was replaced by Shardul in the T20 WC.

India will commence playing its 1st Test match against NZ on 25th Nov. in Kanpur.
