Official: Newcastle United renews Kieran Trippier

Kieran Trippier has put pen to paper on a new two-and-a-half-year deal to extend his stay at Newcastle United. The 32-year-old right-back was Newcastle’s first signing after the Saudi-owned takeover of the club. It was back in January of 2022 when the English man moved from La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid for a £15m deal. Trippier is now set to stay at the club for at least until 2025.

Words from Trippier

In a statement released by Trippier, he said: “I’m absolutely delighted that I’ve extended my contract here. I’ve got a lot of thank you to make to the manager, owners, fans, and my teammates.

“When I first arrived here, they made me feel so welcome and I want to help the club achieve great things. It’s a positive moment for us players in the club and there’s no place I’d rather be.”

How did manager Eddie Howe react?

Newcastle United head coach, Eddie Howe, added: “It’s a fitting reward for the season he’s had. He’s been outstanding both on and off the pitch, showing real leadership at a difficult moment when he first arrived, and now he’s excelled in a team that’s doing well.

“I can’t praise him enough for everything he’s given the club.”
