New Celebration from Marcus Rashford explained

Marcus Rashford has always been considered to have huge potential at Old Trafford. However, in the 2021–22 season, he failed to deliver, and the fans started doubting.

After two impressive seasons where he had over 30 goal contributions each, the forward looked perished and a mere shadow of his previous self.

However, the Englishman seems to have found his goal-scoring form again. Ever since he came back from the World Cup in Qatar, he has been on a goal-scoring streak, with 17 goals and six assists so far this season.

Surprisingly, he now has a new celebration to show for his goals.

What does Marcus Rashford’s new celebration mean?

The new celebration came from his celebration after scoring the final goal before the turn of the year. He scored an injury-time winner as United beat Wolves 1-0 on New Year’s Eve.

Now, every time Rashford scores, he seems to run to the corner flag and look at the spectators in the stands. He then points a finger to his temple while standing strictly.

But why is this the case?

Well, it is believed that Rashford could be hinting back to mental health. The forward had previously been a victim of racism following a penalty miss against Italy in the Euros.

Rashford spoke about the issue earlier this season, as he opened up about his tumbling form and his off-the-pitch issues.

Back in October, after scoring the only goal in United’s win over West Ham, Rashford said, “It’s a completely different energy around the club and the training ground. That puts me in a better headspace, and I just feel really motivated now. That’s the area I was struggling with.

“I was struggling at times with more mental things. It wasn’t really my own performance but other things off the pitch. That’s the biggest difference from last season.

“I get that it’s your job to speak about what happens on the pitch but for the players, we have to get into the right headspace for every game. Too often last season, I wasn’t in the right headspace for games. I wasn’t surprised by some of the stuff that was happening.”
