NCAA Women’s Hockey Team Lost Jori Jones From Injuries, Suffered In Car Accident

This week NCAA women’s Hockey Team lost their Goalie Jori Jones who was suffering from injuries during a fatal car accident.

Jori Jones was only 19 years old. She was caught in an accident while she and her three other teammates were traveling back from an offseason trip to Aberdeen, South Dakota.

The three other women, driver Gianna Gasparini, 19, Kayla Bluhm, 20, and Lily Mortenson, 19, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, as did the 28-year-old driver of the other car. The other three teammates were out of danger.

Unfortunately, Gustavus Adolphus College hockey goalie Jori Jones couldn’t survive those fatal injuries during the accident.

Gretchen Hopeman, the president of the Roseville Area Youth Hockey Association, remembered Jones.

Hopeman said via WCCO-TV,

“Jori was not only a talented athlete but also an extraordinary human being, both inside and out. Her infectious smile and laughter could light up any room, and her spirit was as genuine as they come. On and off the ice, she remained a beacon of leadership and positivity.”

Fans are devasted by the early passing away of hockey player Jori.

One fan wrote, “So very sad. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and hockey staff!”

Another fan wrote, “Gut-wrenching. So sad. My heart breaks for these women and their families, teammates, coaches, and friends.”

Another fan added, “Devastating. Thinking about all who knew and loved her.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Jones family and her friends.
