Matt Rhule Denies Shedeur Sanders’ Accusations Of Being Disrespected Buffs

Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule denied all the postgame accusations from the Shedeur Sanders that the Cornhuskers disrespected the Buffaloes prior to Saturday’s game.

After Colorado took over Nebraska with a 36-14 Week 2 win, Buffs quarterback Shedeur Sanders said in an interview that he took offense to Rhule and his players standing on the Buff logo at midfield pregame.

Sanders told the reporters, that before Rhule and his whole team stood on Colorado’s logo. He said,

“It was extremely personal, we got out there and warmup and you got the head coach of the other team standing on the middle of the Buff. A couple players do it, it’s fine—enjoy the scenery. But when you got the whole team trying to disrespect it, I’m not going for that at all—so I went in there and disrupted it. They knew off rip, the Buffaloes mean a lot to me. That’s what I was saying pregame and I knew it was extreme disrespect.”

On Monday, Matt Rhule defended himself and the Huskrs by saying that it was part of their praying before the game for everyone’s safety. Rhule said that he is “coaching this team with class” and was merely following his customary pregame ritual of praying on the field.

Whether it was a praying ritual as Rhule said or in the eyes of of Shedeur, disrespect, Colorado did take revenge on longtime rival Nebraska. However, Matt Rhule did run toward Deion Sanders to congratulate him after the game. Both shook hands and let bygones be bygones.

It seems Buffs QB Shedeur hasn’t forgiven the Huskers and their coach yet.
