IPL AUCTION 2022: AB de Villiers’ retirement will be hard to overcome for RCB

Akash Chopra talking about the retention system in the IPL  Auction 2022 has picked up his 4 players. Despite AB de Villiers’ retirement Chopra left to include Glenn Maxwell in the counting. However, Maxwell is expected to have so much more favor being the overseas player from the Franchise because of Mr.360° ’s retirement.

Akash Chopra in a video told about his 4 picks from the Bangalore-based Franchise:

“Virat Kohli and Yuzi Chahal will be my first two choices. If I have two more in my hand, I will try for Mohammed Siraj and Devdutt Paddikal. These will be my four. I will think about these four for sure. I can think about Harshal as well – Siraj/Harshal.”

The former cricketer didn’t take Maxwell’s name and showed less belief in the Australian cricketer. Cricketer-cum-commentator supported his statement by saying:

“You might be thinking about Glenn Maxwell, that is why I do not want to retain him. It is because I don’t have a hundred percent confidence. He is doing very well but I don’t know if he will continue doing that. So, I don’t want to take that chance.”

However, Maxwell was an outstanding performer in IPL 2021, he was the 5th highest scorer by hitting 513* runs with an amazing strike rate of 144.10.

Akash Chopra further stressed seeing more Indian Players than Overseas ones. He added:

“We can get more overseas players in the market space if we want, you don’t get Indians. I look at Indians most of the time when it comes to retention.”

RCB will not be able to retain all the 4-Indian players because of the limitation of retaining up to only 4 players and 1 out of 4 should be an Overseas player so Maxwell’s chances of getting retained hereby increases.

IPL Auction 2022 is expected to be organized in January 2022.
