India to play one-off test against England in 2022

Recently It has been reported that India will play a one-off test summer in 2022 against England. This news has been confirmed by both boards of control for Cricket in India and England. It is being speculated that it might be the part of the five test match series India played in England where India led by 2-1. The fifth match was canceled after a few members in the Indian squad were tested positive for Corona.

In the next summer, India is scheduled to tour England where India will play 3 ODIs and 2 T20s. This one-off test might make its way in the middle of this tour. It is also reported that the one-off test will not affect other scheduled matches of the tour. However, it has not been made clear that the one-off test will be part of the five test match series that recently concluded.

It is better for the England cricket board if a one-off test is part of the recently-concluded five test match series as cancellation of the fifth match due to the covid outbreak will cause losses to England cricket board. This one-off test match might help them to avert losses due to the cancellation of the match.

However, the fifth test match between India and England was to be played between India and England in the window of 10 to 14 September. However, it could not be concluded due to the lack of interest shown by spectators owing to the outbreak of the Covid.

It all started with head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun, fielding coach R Sridhar and physio Nitin testing positive for the virus during the Oval Test. Matters escalated further on the eve of the fifth Test when junior physio Parmar also tested positive for COVID-19.

Everything began when Indian cricket head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun, fielding coach R Sridhar, and physio Nitin were tested positive for the virus during the Oval Test. However, they were all isolated and they were not reported to be in close contact with Indian players. However, things turned worse on the eve of the fifth test when Junior Physio Parmar also tested positive for Covid-19.

The unfortunate news was that he was in close contact with the Indian players, the news of Parmar testing positive for the Covid created a sense of fear among the Indian players. However, all Indian players were immediately taken to test for Covid and none of the players were found to be positive for Corona.

It was not sure that they were also not tested positive during the time of incubation period and they did not want to risk the health of players.

The same was conveyed to the England Cricket Board, instead of taking the decision to cancel the match, they asked BCCI to forfeit the test match which BCCI refused to do so.

If the Test had been forfeited by the BCCI, this action would have made the England cricket board eligible to claim the losses from the Indian counterparts.

Instead of BCCI forfeiting the test, It insisted ECB conduct the one test match during the Indian tour of England, Provided it does not affect the scheduled Indian tour.
