ICC World Test Championship Table Updated as of November 25: Check Out

Recently the ICC points table has been updated in which Sri Lanka has attained the top position in the ICC points table. Sri Lanka managed to attain this position after it trampled the West Indies by 187 runs. Islanders were quite brilliant from the start and they did not let the game slip off their hands. They hammered West indies to the extent that they could not recover from the humongous target. With the win, they are hovering at the top of the ICC World Test Championship Table.ย

It all started in the Galle where Sri Lanka and the West Indies came face to face with each other as a part of the ICC World Test Championship. The host won the toss and elected to bat. The openers Pathum Nissanka and Dimuth Karunaratne were determined from the start and they stood their ground as long as they can and together they added the 139 for the first wickets. Nissanka however got out at 56 runs but the damage was already done as Dimuth continued to muster runs. He played a knock of 147 runs that helped Sri Lanka reach closer to the 300 runs mark.ย

The other players from the lower order came and made their presence felt, finished the innings at 386 runs giving a humongous target to West Indies to mount. Talking about the West Indies bowlers, Roston Chase was the great choice for the west indies. He was probably the one Sri Lankans found hard to overcome as he returned with the figure of 5/83 and another bowler who did his magic was Jomel Warrican who ended up with 3 wicket haul.

On the other hand, Carribian batters were the opposite of what Sri Lankans were. After being beaten with such a humongous total, they were expected to score some big runs and to be aggressive a bit. But they failed to make any impact.

Kraigg Brathwaite, Jason Holder, Rahkeem Cornwall, and Kyle Mayers all got off to starts but slid off at the end.  Mayers was the top scorer with 45 as West Indies ended their first innings on 230.

Then began the second innings, Sri Lankans were as aggressive as the first innings, they again set the target of 348 runs, and Dimuth Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews were the ones whose half-centuries contributed to that target. Nkrumah Bonner and Joshua Da Silva tried their best, but their fifties could not save the match. None of the other Caribbean batters could support them as West Indies were bowled out for 160 runs.

Lasith Embuldeniya picked up six wickets in the Test match and Praveen Jayawickrama took five. Ramesh Mendis scalped four wickets in the second innings to help the Islanders gain 12 points in the ICC World Test Championship.

They managed to garner 100% points. This made them at the top of the ICC World Test Championship Table. Talking about the other teams, India is the second with their 54.17% points while Pakistan is third with their 50% points.

India is currently playing a test against New Zealand while Bangladesh is about to open the World Test Championship against Pakistan tomorrow.
