The Wisden cricketer AB de Villiers has finally announced his retirement from all forms of Cricket earlier today. The 37-year old cricketer took it to Twitter and left a heartfelt note there stating that his flame is no more burning bright now!

AB de Villiers’s  tweet reads:

“It has been an incredible journey, but I have decided to retire from all cricket.

Ever since the backyard matches with my older brothers, I have played the game with pure enjoyment and unbridled enthusiasm. Now, at the age of 37, that flame no longer burns so brightly.”

de Villiers also talked about how RCB the IPL Franchise has become an important part of his life. It’s like his daily to him and how hard was it to come to this decision. The attacker stated:

“I have had a long and fruitful time playing for RCB. Eleven years have just whizzed by and leaving the boys is extremely bittersweet. Of course, arriving at this decision took a lot of time, but after a lot of contemplation, I’ve decided to hang up my boots and spend quality time with my family.”

“Mr. 360” also thanked Virat Kohli and all the support staff of RCB for their support and giving de Villiers so many memories to cherish. He added:

“I would like to thank the RCB management, my friend Virat Kohli, teammates, coaches, support staff, fans, and the entire RCB family for showing faith and supporting me all through these years. It has been a memorable journey with RCB. Have so many memories on the personal front to cherish for a lifetime.”

While concluding de Villiers stated that he has become a half Indian and that he and his family will continue to support his team- RCB.

“RCB will always be very close to me and my family and will continue to support this amazing team. I am an RCBian forever,” AB de Villiers concluded.

AB de Villiers took retirement from international cricket back on 23rd May 2018, where he uploaded a video on Twitter saying that: 

“I have had my turn, and to be honest, I am tired.”

Now that AB de Villiers has been retired the gameplay of RCB will be interesting to watch and also which player gets retained in IPL 2022.
