EMMA RADUCANU PLANNING 2024 COMEBACK AFTER INJURY

Emma Raducanu hopes to return to tennis in 2024 despite suffering injuries and having wrist and ankle surgery. Physical concerns have hindered the Brit all year, drastically limiting her court time and forcing her to miss three Grand Slams. She had surgery in May and has now stated that she will be out for the rest of 2023.
Emma Raducanu of the United Kingdom has provided an update on when she expects to return to tennis, aiming for a 2024 comeback after suffering injuries this season.
In early 2023, the 20-year-old suffered from a reoccurring wrist ailment and underwent modest treatment on both hands and ankle surgery.
She stated she anticipated being out for “a few months” then, but Raducanu has now announced she won’t be fit until at least 2024.
“Next season, I’ll be back,” the 20-year-old said to BBC Sport.
“This season, all of the slams were completed, so it was difficult to watch them pass, but I was trying to stay in my lane as much as possible and focus on my recovery.”
Raducanu rose to prominence after winning the 2021 US Open, making her the first qualifier to win a major singles championship in the Open era.
She has, however, been handicapped by physical concerns and a lack of form since then. She has yet to advance past the second round of a Grand Slam since the final at Flushing Meadows in 2021, and she has now dropped out of the world’s top 200 after reaching a high of 10 in the rankings.
Raducanu, on the other hand, believes she views every criticism as a “compliment” and acknowledges her “ultimate” ambition is to become the first female British singles champion at every England Club since Virginia Wade in 1977.
“It’s a compliment that they’re still talking about me even though I’m not at these events.” “Someone once told me, ‘Worry when they’re not talking about you,'” she continued.
“Wimbledon has always been a childhood fantasy of mine. Winning Wimbledon remains the ultimate goal.”
