Dead Island 2 Announces 2023 Release Date After Years of Delay

Dumbuster Studios are going to shock you with a piece of fabulous news, so you better prepare your weapons for HELL-A.  The Dead Island 2 project had been bouncing around and changing ownership since 2016. And we can finally confirm that a sequel to the zombie sandbox is in the works. What’s even more intriguing is that you won’t have to wait until April 28. Dead Island 2 has already begun development, therefore it is currently being tweaked in preparation for the infamous “gold” phase.

Dead Island 2 was supposed to be released in 2015 after being announced in 2014, yet we’re still waiting more than seven years later. We’d lost count of how many times they’d postponed it (the most recent was in November), as well as the list of studios that had taken on the project before leaving it.

To mark this long-awaited event, the two companies have agreed to shorten the wait for fans by releasing the game a week earlier than planned. The game’s release date has been pushed out to April 21, 2023, according to a tweet.

A small preview of the incredible action and dark humor that fans have come to expect was just shown. A gory trailer for the game was presented during the Gamescom Opening Night Live event in 2022. The trailer promises to take gamers on a gory, muddy journey to escape Los Angeles while plunging into zombie-infested mayhem. So far, they’ve introduced three new foes to coincide with the new release date. Each has unique qualities “that make them much more awful than the typical afflicted”. There are three types of zombies: infernal crushers, spiked runners, and cattle walkers.
