India has won 26 medals in the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham thus far. In addition to the 26 total medals won, India also took home 9 gold, 8 silver, and 9 bronze. On Day 8 of CWG 2022,  Indian wrestlers had a splendid day winning five medals overall out of which 3 were gold medals. As many matches in other sports are still to be played including wrestling, the competition’s final few days will result in more medals for India surely. Commonwealth Games 2022 India’s Day 8 Summary

Day 8 of the Commonwealth Games 2022 brings six medals overall in the medal tally in India. Indian wrestlers were the center of attraction on day 8 of the mega event. Deepak Poonia, Bajrang Poonia, and Shakshi Malik each won Gold medals in Wrestling in their respective weight category. Whereas another Indian wrestler, Mohit Grewal won a bronze medal in the men’s 125 kg event. 

In freestyle wrestling, India’s Divya Kakran won Bronze in the women’s freestyle 68 kg event, overall sixth medal of the day for India.

In other competitions like Lawn bowls fours, the Indian men’s team defeated England to qualify for the gold medal match. 

Achanta Sharath Kamal and G Sathiyan of India defeated Tom Jarvis and Sam Walker of England in three straight games to advance to the men’s doubles semifinals in table tennis. In other Table Tennis matches, Achanta Sharath Kamal of India defeated Olajide Omotayo of Nigeria 4-2 in the Men’s Singles Round of 16 to go to the semifinals. India’s G Sathiyan defeated Australia’s Nicholas Lum 4-2 in the Men’s Singles Round of 16 matches. India’s Sanil Shetty defeated Nigeria’s Bode Abiodun 4-2 in the Men’s Singles Round of 16 matches.

Talking about the badminton events, In the men’s singles round of 16 matches, Lakshya Sen triumphed over Ying Xiang Lin of Australia. He outplayed the Australian opponent 21-9 and 21-16. Eva Kattirtzi of Cyprus was defeated by Aakarshi Kashyap 21-2, 21-7 to go to the women’s singles pre-quarterfinals. India’s Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Sherry defeated Pakistan’s Murad Ali and Muhammad Irfan Bhatti in the Men’s Doubles – Round of 16 matches. 

However, the Indian Women’s hockey team lost to Australia in a thrilling penalty shootout game by 0-3. Now, they will play for the bronze medal against New Zealand.

Commonwealth Games 2022 Live Streaming Details, Where To Watch India’s Matches on Day 9

Day 9 of the Commonwealth Games 2022 will begin today with medals in boxing and as well as other categories of sports.

Amit Panghal (51 kg), Jaismine Lamboria (60 kg), Sagar Ahlawat (+92 kg), and Rohit Tokas (67 kg) are among the Indian boxers who have advanced to the semifinals to ensure medals in their respective weight classes. Before these Indian pugilists, Nikhat Zareen (50kg), Nitu Ganghas (48kg), and Md Hussamuddin (57kg) also confirmed medals in CWG 2022 boxing event. It is going to be an interesting day for them.

The Indian Cricket team is all set to play in the semifinal of the women’s t20 event on Saturday, i.e. Day 9, against England.
