Commonwealth Games 2022 India’s Day 7 Summary
Day 7 of Commonwealth Games 2022 brings assurance of several medals in boxing and as well as India also won medals in various categories of sports. Amit Panghal (51 kg), Jaismine Lamboria (60 kg), Sagar Ahlawat (+92 kg), and Rohit Tokas (67 kg) are among the Indian boxers who have advanced to the semifinals to ensure medals in their respective weight classes. Before these Indian pugilists, Nikhat Zareen (50kg), Nitu Ganghas (48kg), and Md Hussamuddin (57kg) also confirmed medals in CWG 2022 boxing event.
Apart from the boxers, the national world record holder, Murali Shreeshankar, won a silver medal first time ever in Commonwealth Games 2022 for India in the men’s long jump event. His best attempt was 8.08m, and with this attempt, he created history for India in the Commonwealth Games by winning a medal in the mentioned sports category.
Talking about hockey, India’s men’s team defeated Wales by 4-1 to confirm a spot in the semifinals of the men’s hockey event. For India, Harmanpreet Singh scored a brilliant hat-trick to win the last league match of the competition.
Moreover, In the Round 16 match of Squash women’s doubles, Meagan Best and Amanda Haywood were defeated by former CWG silver medalists Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal-Karthik. Meanwhile, in the badminton Men’s Singles Round of 32, Lakshya Sen of India convincingly trounces Vernon Smeed of St. Helena 21-4, 21-5.
