College Football Announcer Tony Roberts Passed Away at 94

Earlier Today, the College Football world lost a gem of Sports Media and commentator. 

The Legend of Notre Dame Football announcer Tony Roberts passed away at the age of 94. He was a beloved personality and voice of Washington Senator as well as for different sports teams. His entertaining commentary was enjoyed by the whole college sports community.

The news of his passing was shared by his friend and longtime football announcer Johnny Holliday. 

Johnny Holliday wrote with a heavy heart on his Twitter account, “My friend Tony Roberts passed away yesterday Tony was the last voice of the Washington Senators, also did Navy Football and for 25 years was the voice of Notre Dame football. Tony also did NFL games, Olympics, and the Bullets…He would have been 95 in October. Rest in Peace Tony.” 

After hearing this sad news prayers and condolences were started to be poured on Social Media. 

Scott Strasemeier, U.S. Naval Academy sports information director, offers his prayers on this sad news, sharing, “I am saddened to hear from his daughter Tracey the passing of HOF broadcaster Tony Roberts. Roberts is best-known as the voice of Notre Dame Football, but he also called Navy football early in his career and we have been friends for more than 30 years. RIP to a legend.”

He was a proud member of the Hall Of Fame for Indiana Broadcasters, Holiday Bowl, and College Football. In 2016, He was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame.

He will be missed and will always be a part of the Sports Media.
