Chad Henne has never disappointed any team and is the best backup a team can have.  With Patrick Mahomes out in the first half due to a right ankle injury, Henne was left to lead and forced to close out the game as a quarterback.

He made an appearance in Saturday’s divisional round. Kansas City defeated the Jaguars with the help of Henne.

Chad spoke to the media after his amazing performance and the Chiefs’ victory over the Jaguars:

“I don’t know if it’s like riding a bike, but you’re always prepared. I think with this offense, obviously with all our weapons that we have, and staying prepared each and every moment, I think you just stay ready. And when your number’s called, you just go in there and do what you did in practice and the meeting rooms and you just take it to the game.”

Henne led a 12-play and 98-yarding score due to which Chiefs extended  10 points. His seamless touchdown pass to Travis Kelce was remarkable. Henne showed his ability to perform the best even in high-pressure scenarios.

Kelce spoke about Henne and said, “Chad’s been nothing but the best quarterback he can be throughout it all. What I mean by that is every single day he’s preparing as if he’s the starting quarterback- as if he’s one snap away. Sure enough, you saw that today.”

Henne’s TD was surely what made the difference as the K.C. got a 27-20 victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Chiefs are now sent to the AFC championship game.

Mahomes also returned to the game in the second half and Henne’s day ended on a good note.

Henne’s journey so far

The 37-year-old joined Kansas City in 2018. He also played for Miami Dolphins in 2008-11 and for Jacksonville Jaguars in 2012-17. He was named MVP after throwing 350 yards in a game. He threw about 13,290 yards and 60 TDs playing for three teams (12 seasons).

He has won a Super Bowl ring once and is set to get another this year.

This was not the first time Chad Henne performed so well. In 2021, when the Chiefs were playing against the Cleveland Browns, Mahomes left the game due to an injury and Henne saved the day.
