India’s cricket star, Virat Kohli, expressed his team’s desire to make new memories for Indian fans in the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which India will host starting on October 5.

In a campaign for Star Sports, Kohli mentioned that while the memories of India’s past World Cup victories, especially the iconic 2011 win, hold a special place in their hearts, they are determined to create fresh memories for their fans this year. India’s first match in the 2023 World Cup will be against Australia on October 8.

Kohli emphasized the passion and unwavering support of Indian fans as a driving force for their determination to win the World Cup. He assured that the team is fully committed to realizing the dreams of Indian cricket enthusiasts. Kohli himself was a part of the Indian team that clinched the ODI World Cup in 2011.

“I am thrilled to be a part of this incredible campaign which perfectly captures the emotions of our fans, and we’re ready to give it our all to make their dreams come true,” Kohli added.

In the meantime, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja expressed the team’s strong commitment to making their fans proud through their performances on the field. For the 46-day event, eight teams secured direct qualification, and Sri Lanka and the Netherlands secured the final two spots through the qualifier round held in Zimbabwe last month.

“As a cricketer, there’s nothing more motivating than knowing that millions of fans are standing behind you, cheering for your success. This campaign reflects the deep passion and obsession of our fans to see Team India win. It’s a journey we’re embarking on together with the entire nation, and we’re determined to make our fans proud with our performances on the field,” said Jadeja.

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Afghanistan, and the Netherlands are the ten teams that have earned spots in this important tournament. During the group stage, they will compete in a round-robin format, and the four best-performing teams will advance to the knockout rounds.

The semi-final matches are set for November 15 in Mumbai and November 16 in Kolkata, while the final is scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on November 19.
