Indian premier league is the favorite of cricket fans. It reflects the energy and passion like no other game has shown. IPL pushes cricketer to attain something extraordinary. This same spirit of IPL saw extraordinary feats being achieved by the players who have got their name etched in the history. 

Since its inception in 2008, IPL has been scripting history every season. New players enter and attain national fame through the IPL. 

Every new season brings a new record to the table overshadowing the old record. In this article, we will see who has the highest average in the IPL history. 

There is a batsman who is known for his batting and wicket keeping skills, he is someone who rose to get attention after he gave outstanding performance in Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament in 2013. He was instantly picked by the Royal challenger Bangalore that was the team which boasted of a line-up set up such as Virat kohli, ab de villiers,  Chris gayle. He got to play alongside them. But he could not give any memorable performance. 

In the following year, he was picked by Hyderabad where he got the opportunity to play in the middle and top order. In 2016, he was roped in by Bangalore. This was the season where he finally proved his mettle by scoring 397 runs with the average of 44.11. He was the third highest scorer in the team. Yet he was not retained  by Bangalore the next year. 

Finally, in the IPL 2018 auction, Kings Eleven grabbed the opportunity and bought Rahul for 11 crore which turned out to be the third highest price for that particular year. 

After coming into Punjab, there was no lookback for Rahul. He went on climbing the ladder of success.  He piled up a total 1922 runs in the next three seasons. He even made two centuries. 

With his consistent batting performance, he is ranked on the top with the highest average of 44.86  in the IPL history. 

He has a unique technique to play which provides stability to the batting order. He has the ability to stay long on the field and change the direction of the game. 

It will be interesting to see what new records he adds to already existing records. 

IPL 2021 auctions are scheduled to start on 18 February. IPL are expected to start in the month of April.
