Virat Kholi must deal with Public Opinion with Calmness and Maturity: Sanjay Manjrekar

Sanjay manekar advised Virat Kohli with calmness and maturity. He must not avoid what the public thinks about cricket. He feels that players play the match to entertain people.

They need to take into consideration the opinions of people. He does not need to sound too arrogant on that front. He said, outside talks can act as a stepping stone to improvement. Players need to show maturity while dealing with the public opinion.

At a virtual press conference before the first ODI against England, virat called outside opinions as useless when he was criticized over KL Rahul.

However, Manjrekar believes that the public opinion is a crucial part of the Indian cricket. And it must get due respect. Manjrekar wrote on his twitter handle:

“ Outside talk which Virat calls nonsense is basically public reacting to a public performance. And it has always been the same-praise when you do well, critique when you don’t.

He gave the example of former Indian captain Mahendra singh dhoni

“Virat must learn to accept the old age reality with maturity and calmness. Just like Dhoni did.”

In the last T20 series between India and England, Virat kohli was heavily criticized for retaining KL Rahul in the playing 11 despite performing the worst.

Virat kohli held a virtual conference ahead of the first T20 where he spoke:

“When I think of ‘form and out-of-form’, my mind goes to the song, kuch to log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna; chhodo, bekaar ki baaton mein kahin beet na jaaye raina (people will talk, their job is to talk; leave all the useless talks for we may lose the night in that).”

Virat further went on to say that:

“There is a lot of impatience outside the cricket set-up. People have their point of view, have their own ideas as to what is going on in players’ minds. That (eventually) becomes a judgement. People have become fond of hearing criticism regularly. So if a player is down, people love putting him down further.”

Virat has assumed his old form and smashed three and half fifties in the five matches. He was declared “ the man of the match” for his brilliant performance in the T20. he has successfully managed to take the team to victory.

Now India will be heading to play the first ODI against England in the Pune. Everyone is eager to see if India will be able to maintain the form and the ODI series after winning both the test and T20.
