The first edition of Indian premier league was played in 2008. IPL is the most expensive and most watched league in the world. IPL has seen many occasions where many new records were made.

IPL has proved to be a great platform for the budding cricketers to get known to national fame. Some of them have gone on to get selected in the International team.

Thanks to the IPL, many players have scored unprecedented runs since 2008 till 2020. They have breached the 4000 runs mark in such a short period of time. In this article, we will see the top five players with the best bowling averages in the IPL history. 

1. Lungi Ngidi (16.15)

Lungi Ngidi made his debut for South Africa against Sri lanka. He instantly rose to fame by his wicket taking skills. When Lungi ngidi was announced the “man of the match” in the test against India. He came to limelight and was picked up by the Chennai super kings.

He played for one year with CSK where he had such an impact that CSK won the IPL title in 2018. Though he played for one year, he is regarded as the bowler with the highest average of 16.15  in the history of IPL. 

2. Adam zampa (17.61)

Adam made his IPL debut in 2016 when he was bought by the rising Pune supergiants. This was the season where he got the fame for his wicket-taking skills. 

He played a match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad where he took 6 wickets at the economy rate of 4.75. He later became part of Royal challengers Bangalore.

He also holds the record of second highest average of 17.61 in the IPL history. 

3. Kagiso Rabada (18.09)

Kagiso Rabada makes headlines for his fiery speed and intimidating bounce. He has outstanding bowling skills. Due to his skills, he was picked up by the Delhi daredevils in 2017 for 5 crores. 

But he did not exhibit much, still Delhi capitals put faith in him and retained him in 2019, he justified his retention by taking 25 wickets.  

He continued his performance in the 2020 by taking 30 wickets. 

Kagiso Rabada holds the record of being the third batsman with the best average of 18.09. 

4. Doug Bollinger (18.72)

Doug Bollinger was the most aggressive player while he was also the coolest player on the field. He played an important role in the Chennai super kings IPL trophy win in 2010 and 2011. He has taken a total of 37 wickets at the economy rate of 7.21. He played only three seasons of IPL.

He was also the player who holds the highest bowling average of 18.72.

5. Dimitri Mascarenhas (18.73)

Dimitri mascarenhas was both the bowler and hard hitting player. Hence, it was hard to ignore him. He was first picked by the Rajasthan royals. But he did not get a chance to prove his mettle. He was released by the RR and traded to the King 11 Punjab. There also, he did not have much to show. After 2013, he was not picked up by any team. 

Though Dimitri did not get many chances to play, he still has the record of 5th player who has the highest average of 18.73.
