India tour of Sri Lanka: No Virat Kohli, Rohit, Bumrah as India ready to tour Lanka for T20 & ODI Series

BCCI has decided to honour FTP (future tour program)  commitment by holding the series with Sri lanka. This tour will likely be held in the month of June. But the series will not be the same as Indian cricket stalwarts like Virat kohli and his deputy Rohit sharma, bowling stars Jasprit bumrah and Mohammed. Shami will not be part of the Indian squad owing to the preparation for the test series against England. 

Indian players who are expected to play the test series against England are engaged in the rigours practise session to get fit. They will miss playing the 3 match ODI and 3 games T20 against Sri lanka. 

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said India will tour Sri Lanka but with the team B. The Sri Lanka series is expected to begin in the july. New players will be part of the tour. 

“Yes, it will be a team of white ball specialists. It will be a different team,” said BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, making it clear that the cricket board also has the preparation of white ball regulars in mind.

With Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul and few others set to miss out because they will be in preparation for the England Tests, the selectors will pick from an abundant IPL talent pool that has been honed through the India A programmes under Rahul Dravid, the NCA director.

Also there are talks that Rahul Dravid and his staff at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) will be asked to accompany the group as coaches.

Sri Lanka tour India squad – Schedule, Dates & Indian Team: The tour has been confirmed by BCCI for July for a white-ball series comprising three ODIs and three T20s. The series will commence with the ODIs on July 13, 16, 19 followed by T20 segment on July 22, 24, 27.
