Shikhar Dhawan has been exploring his other interests during his free time besides cricket. He has recently taken to Instagram, and recited his favorite poem there, enchanting his fans on the social media platform.  He recited lines of his favorite poem of the Abrar kashif.

Indian team is spending time in the quarantine before leaving for the WTC final against New Zealand and an exhausting test tour against England. As soon as they complete their quarantine, they leave for England where all the matches would be played.

When the squad for the WTC was announced , shikhar dhawan’s name did not feature in the list of the players. Hence he had  the spare time available to pursue his other interests that is the shayari. He has been active on the social media for the last few days and showing up his creative side to his fans and entertaining them.

He took to instagram and uploaded a video in which he is seen reciting a inspiring poem, and captioned it:

“Sundays are for Shayaris! This one is one of my favourites from Abrar Kashif ji .”

A few days ago, shikhar dhawan warned people to be cautious against the virus, appearing to stay at home, not stepping out  to risk their own and others’ lives.

“Ghar pe rehne ka nahi toh Gabbar aa jayega.” (Stay at home, or else Gabbar will come.)

Incidentally, Gabar is the nickname of the shikhar dhawan. He threw some fun by using his nickname while warning the people against coming out of the home. Before that, he uploaded a video on instagram where he played his favorite song ‘Hoton se chulo tum’ on a flute. and showed his other talent to his fans. He captioned his video as:

“Music for the soul. Stay calm. Stay positive.”

While India will be away in England, playing the World test championship against New Zealand, the newly announced squad will tour Sri Lanka in July to play the three ODIs and as many as T20.

If speculations are right, the reins of the captaincy will be handed to the Shikhar dhawan for the Sri lankan tour.  He has been backed by several players for the same reason saying that he is the most qualified and most experienced player in the Indian team and he can lead the Indian team with the new squad to victory. Deepak was among the most vocal who backed the Delhi batsman to lead India for the limited overs cricket.

Chahar was quoted as saying in this regard by TOI:

“Shikhar bhai would be a good choice for captain. He has been playing for a long time and has good experience. For me, a senior player should be made the captain. Because players see that player as a senior and respect him and obey him with honesty. Players should respect their captain. He (Dhawan) will be a good choice.”

Shikhar Dhawan had a memorable run for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021. He was the Orange Cap holder, scoring 380 runs in eight matches before the tournament got suspended after a spate of COVID-19 cases emerged in the bio-bubbles of multiple teams.
