Punjab kings induct Markram in the place of Dawid Malan

Kings Eleven Punjab has inducted South African all-rounder Aiden Markram in the place of England player Dawid Malan after many England players have opted out of the IPL due to the World Cup Event.

Dawid Malan is one of the many England players who have opted out of the IPL owing to the T20 World cup. Many IPL franchises are forced to make changes to their squads by finding the replacement for outgoing players.

Aiden Markram has gone unsold in the IPL seasons though he has featured in the IPL auction. He got this opportunity in IPL after he did wonders with his bat after smashing 48 runs off 33 balls- including 1 four and 2 sixes.

In the one match that Malan got to play for the Punjab kings, He came at no.4 after Prabhsimran Singh, Mayank Agarwal, and Chris Gayle. While Markram has featured in the shortest format as an opener- playing as one in six of his 12 T20 Innings. In those innings, Markram has garnered 405 runs- including four fifties- at a strike rate of 150.

Markram is currently on an international assignment in Sri Lanka – with two more T20Is to play on September 12 and 14. It remains to be seen when he can join up with the squad and be available to get on the field for the Punjab Kings, who have lost five of their eight fixtures, sitting at the sixth spot in the points table.
