Walker Howard surprised everyone by entering the transfer portal of college football. This resulted in taking one of the best quarterbacks in LSU out.

It is believed that Howard will be back with the SEC West for the 2023 campaign. More importantly, Ole Miss is the favorite to sign him.

It was reported by Football expert Glenn Guilbeau that Howard had an “outstanding visit” to Ole Miss. The visit came on Friday and Saturday prior to their match against TCU on Sunday.

It was head coach Lane Kiffin and quarterback coach Charles Weiss Jr, who met Howard. This meeting is said to have made the Rebels “close” to signing the quarterback.

Why Walker Howard Left LSU

Guilbeau reported that the reason behind Howard choosing to leave LCU is their head coach Brian Kelly. Apparently, he could not promise Howard the same number of reps as Garrett Nussmeier who is the projected No. 2 quarterback.

This makes it clear that at LCU, Howard would have most likely been a backup to Jayden Daniels and Nussmeier.

Other Analysts Also Project Ole Miss

According to 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions, it is Ole Miss that has been predicted to sign Howard this offseason.

On the other hand, National analyst Chris Hummer, Ole Miss reporter David Johnson, and TCU reporter Jeremy Clark all predict the Rebels to lure in the quarterback.

Howard is a 6-foot-1, 195-pounder from St. Thomas More (La.) He had been on the field played for LSU just twice last season.

247Sports once again referred to Howard as a five-star prospect while he was ranked as the No. 5 quarterback nationally and the No. 4 overall player in the state of Louisiana by the industry-generated Composite.
