Injured Jofra archer rules out for the remaining year

Jofre Archer has been ruled out of Cricket for the rest of the year due to incessant injury in the right elbow. He tried to come back but his injury kept on flaring back. Eventually he decided to take rest for the full year to recover from the injury permanently. England and Wales cricket board confirmed this news saying that he will be given rest until he permanently recovers from his injury. Jofra Archer has been struggling with the injury for quite some time. Due to injury, he has been ruled out of the South Africa tour in 2020, India tour early this year, he was also subsequently ruled out of the IPL.

Initially Jofra archer came back to action for the Sussex in County championship. He played well till the second innings, but his injury cropped up again. He did not bowl in the final two days of the championship against Kent. He was later ruled out of the home series against New zealand.

“Jofra Archer underwent further scans on his injured right elbow last week. The scans revealed that he has suffered a recurrence of a stress fracture of his right elbow,” ECB said in a statement.”

“In response to these findings, he has been ruled out for the rest of the year and will miss the current Test series against India, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 and the Ashes series in Australia.”

“The 26-year-old, who had an operation in May to remove a bone fragment from his elbow, returned to play last month. As part of his return-to-bowling programme, he became aware of increasing discomfort in his elbow during matches for Sussex in the Vitality Blast and a 50-over friendly against Oxfordshire. The operation is not related to the stress fracture that sidelined the player previously. He will now spend time on an extended break from cricket before returning for a medical review in early autumn,” further read the statement from ECB.

Jofra Archer ruling out came as a big shock to England at the time when T20 World Cup in UAE later this year and the Ashes are concerned. This news of his break has come at a time when England is also missing the services of Ben Stokes who has taken an indefinite break due to taking care of his mental health and giving rest to his left index finger that has not recovered since he came back to the competition earlier this month.
