Ind vs Eng 3rd T20: Can an entry of Ishan kishan be the end of Shikhar dhawan dreams for T20 world cup?

Ishan Kishan has been in the limelight since he hit a fifty in his debut in the second T20 against England. His fifty played a huge role in taking India to victory. Since his entry in the Indian team along with his aggressive batting, there have been talks of giving the opportunity to play to Ishan kishan in the place of Shikhar dhawan. 

As Shikhar dhawan is not showing the same aggression and determination on field as Ishan kishan. Ishan kishan might be taken as an opening batsman with Rohit sharma. 

Also, both Ishant and Shikhar are left-handers, this makes a good option to play him in the opening position to provide with the good combination of left-handed and right-handed batting.  

Ishant has been very impressive with the bat since the beginning. He has honed his skills being a part of Mumbai Indians. He has got good experience playing alongside the international players. Now and then, there were talks that Ishan Kishan does not have a grip on when to hit and defend. However, it was clearly visible on the field in the second T20 that he was calm and composed. 

Virat Kohli also stitched a partnership of 94 runs off the 54 balls along with the left-handed batsman Ishan kishan. Virat Kohli attributed the win to Ishan kishan. He also mentioned that: 

Special mention Ishan, the way he batted,” Kohli said at the presentation. “Changed the game completely. We were one down for nothing. I tried to do what I could but then he totally took the game away from the opposition. Kept following his instinct. Quality batting on debut.” 

Let’s compare batting skills of Shikhar dhawan and Ishan kishan

• Both Shikhar dhawan and Ishan kishan have good attacking style. Both of them are left-handed batsmen.

• Shikar dhawan has the ability to dismantle the bowlers, and Shikhar dhawan has a cool temperament.  Whereas Ishan Kishan can also attack the bowlers. However, Ishan kishan is yet to prove his temperament. 

• Ishan kishan can hit sixes more aggressively than Shikhar dhawan. His IPL sixes are the testimony to that. He has hit 30 sixes. 
• Ishan kishan also offers a new advantage of wicket-keeping skills. He can easily compensate for the absence of Rishabh pant. 

It is an obvious fact that Ishan kishan offers tough competition to the shikhar dhawan. Talking about the current scenario, Ishan kishan has a clear advantage over Shikhar dhawan. We will have to wait and see, who among the two, team management picks for T20 world cup?
