ICC nominates Bhuvneshwar for the ICC player of the Month award

Bhuvneshwar was among the players who was nominated for the ICC player of the month award for his standout performance in the month of March against England. Other than Bhuvneshwar kumar, other players who got selected for the award are Rashid khan of Afghanistan and Zimbabwe’s Sean williams.  

ICC announced the awards for the both Man and Woman categories for the remarkable performance for the month of March.

Nominees among the women category consisted of Rajeshwari gayakwad of India, South Africa’s Lizelle Lee and India’s Punam Raut. 

During the England series, Bhuvaneswar had an outstanding performance in all three formats on either side of both teams. He played a huge role in making a turnaround in the game. 

He took a total of 6 wickets in the 3 ODIs at the economy rate of 4.65 that India played against England. In the T20 too, he performed amazingly by taking 4 wickets at the economy rate of 6.38. He was also outstanding in the white ball cricket. 

Rashid khan gave a noticeable performance against Zimbabwe by taking the 11 wickets in the second test that ensured the victory of Afghanistan in the second test. Moreover,  he dismissed 6 players in the three T-20 that ultimately was won by South Africa 3-0. 

Zimbabwe’s Sean Williams scored 264 runs and took the 2 wickets in the two tests he played against Afghanistan.  In the three T-20, he played against the same opponent, he scored a total 45 runs at strike rate of 128.52.

In the women’s category, Rajeshwari has been exceptional in all three three formats against South africa. She dismissed eight players at Economy rate of 3.56 in the five ODIs. In the three T20s, he took four wickets against the same opponent. 

Another Indian Women Cricketer Punam Raut scored a total 263 runs at the strike rate of 87.66. Punam raut has been the top run scorer in the five ODIs against South Africa, scoring the  century and half century. 

South african Lizelle has also been nominated for this award for scoring a century and half-century to climb to the top of the ICC batting ranking. 

This award is decided on the basis of on-field performance over the period of the month.
