“I was used in positions where I am not good at” – said Robin Uthappa

Robin uthappa has said that he will choose to play at the no.1 position in Chennai super kings which has acquired him after Rajasthan royals decided to release him. He said he plays good where he belongs. If there is any change in his position, his performance is likely to dip. This is what has happened with him in the last two seasons where he was forced to play in a position where he is not good at.

In Rajasthan royals and Kolkata knight riders, his performance was continuously downward. He was made to play in the middle order line up.

In an interview with the Times of India, he stated that he could have played better, had he been allowed to open the batting in the respective team he was involved in.

I would always like to open the batting for any team that I apply for. This is where my performance flourished. I love to start well and win matches for the team. When you are pushed out of what is comfortable for, you are bound to get affected. In the last few years, I have been used in the middle order line-up, because of this, my performance has dipped. Whenever I was given the opportunity to open the batting, I have fared better, said Robin uthappa.

Robin uthappa has been the holder of orange cap in IPL 2014. After that his performance has been decreasing. In 2020, he could only muster 196 runs from the 12 innings at the average  of 16.33. Talking about his best performance, his best performance came in when he was used at a no.3.  As an opener, he has scored 2057 runs at an average of 27.43 while his average drops to 27.45 when he plays at no. 4 or no.5.

Robin uthapa who is now the part of Chennai super kings shares that it is a great feeling to be the part of Dhoni’s team. He further went on saying that he shares a special bond with Dhoni. Dhoni is like a family to him. Over the years, their relationship grew like a family.

Robin uthappa is expected to play as opener in the Chennai super kings.
