Draymond Green discussed his opinions about a recent NBA rule change as he prepared to make his debut this season. Although he supports the 65-game restriction, it may result in some problematic contract scenarios.

In an effort to reduce load management, the league modified the seasonal award benchmark. A player must participate in at least 65 of the 82 regular-season games in order to be eligible for those accolades.

Draymond Green was asked about the recently enacted regulation during a recent interview. He believes there will be no problems with the 65-game threshold until someone is recognized for their health alone.

The forward for the Golden State Warriors also mentioned how winning may undoubtedly lead to players getting a hefty payday.

“I honor the sixty-five-game rule. Everyone will follow the guidelines up until a jerk joins the All-NBA squad. “Oh, I have to pay this jerk $315 million because someone got really hurt,” Green remarked.

Draymond Green is aiming to meet the 65-game threshold.

Due to an injury sustained during training camp, Draymond Green’s season opener has been postponed. Despite missing the Warriors’ opening two games due to injury, he is anticipated to start against the Houston Rockets on Sunday.

Prior to discussing his opinions over the latest regulation in the NBA, Draymond Green declared his intention to meet this standard. He acknowledges that in order to reach his ambitions for this season, he must meet that threshold.

“I got goals. I got goals. I don’t know what they are yet. But I’m going to need to play 65 games (to reach some of them),” he said.

For Green to have a chance of winning Defensive Player of the Year or making an All-Defense team, he must play 65 games. In his eleven years in the league, Green earned DPOY in 2017 and was selected eight times to the All-Defense team.

He hasn’t had any problems in his career thus far with playing in that many games. He has spent most of his career as a regular member of the Warriors’ lineup and takes great satisfaction in being available every night.

Green has yet to participate in at least 65 games on three separate occasions. He just missed the cut in 2021 during the COVID-19 shorter season, which was one of them. Green only made 46 appearances; therefore, 2022 was the last year he fell short of expectations.
