England head coach Chris silverwood made an announcement changing the years long policy that England will give more importance to the IPL 2021 than the New zealand test series. This decision will ensure that England players will be able to play in the IPL 2021.

By far, England prioritized their own tournaments avoiding  the IPL. Now, they have made a change in their mind considering the benefits, IPL offers.

BCCI has recently announced dates and venues of IPL that will be held over a month starting from the 9 april to 30 may.

A total of 8 teams will be participating in it and last year, the IPL was organized in UAE due to a pandemic in India. This year, BCCI has made all the arrangements to ensure safety of players.

England’s two match test series against New zealand  will begin on 2 june. Many players who are likely to play in tests, are also the part of various IPL franchises. They are likely to miss the test.

Earlier, when there was a national call from England, England players always backed off from the IPL to fulfill their national duty. Now things have changed for England. They could not afford to miss the perks and experience this most expensive league in the world offers.

Speaking to the media, Chris Silverwood made it clear that players will remain in India for the IPL. They will not go to play the test against New Zealand.

“ Players who are part of IPL would be staying back in India as long as IPL is held, we have not so far made plans as to how we will be managing everything, we are working our way, soon we will come up with our preparation to smoothen things a bit.”

A total of 13 England players will participate in this T20 league. Out of them, seven are part of England’s test squad that was supposed to play the test against New Zealand. The list of players comprises Sam curran, Jofra archer, Jos buttler, Moeen ali, Jonny bairstow and Chris woakes, Liam livingstone, Tom curran, Dawid malan, Sam billings, Chris jordan.
